10 Habits for Stress Relief

Journaling outdoors provides relief and a boost

Whether it’s in the moment or you’re struggling to decompress, here are some ways to calm, release, and soothe.

1.) Go outside for a 10-minute walk. No matter the weather, the change of scenery and fresh air will make a difference.

2.) Write it out. Purge your thoughts onto paper unfiltered. When you’re done, check in with how you feel and decide how you can move forward in a healthy way. Rip the paper into pieces.

3.) Call someone who can offer you perspective or make you laugh.

4.) Take a few physiological sighs - two inhales through the nose, one long exhale out your mouth.

5.) Keep healthy snacks on hand, so that you can make a nourishing choice.

6.) Take a shower or bath.

7.) Take your dog out to play or a walk in the park.

8.) Release tension with somatic stretches or restorative yoga. 10-minutes is all it takes.

9.) Play calming music, a sound bath meditation, or solfeggio beats. Sound is a more powerful healer than you’d imagine.

10.) Sip on tea with mint, chamomile, or lavender.
